Subject: [irlp] IRLP Support mechanisms
There are basically three support channels (in no particular order)... 1. The first channel is right here on yahoogroups. irlp @yahoogroups.com is a great place to ask general questions about hardware (including radios), software, custom scripts to do a particular task, etc. Literally anything related to operating IRLP is okay here. Areas related to Linux system administration, configuration of non-IRLP features (like sendmail, echoirlp, general web server set up) and other non-IRLP areas are better handled elsewhere. 2. Use installs @irlp.net for questions that very specifically relate to an issue you may be having with installing IRLP on your specific computer. installs @irlp.net is the ONLY address where you should send any password information. Installs is run on a private machine and information sent there, stays there. e-mail to installs actually opens a trouble ticket that all of the installation team has access to. We frequently work together solving various technical issues. All questions about PGP authentication are handled by the Installs team. Installs does not work on any of the custom scripts contributed by the user community. A better place to ask those questions, is the author of the script directly, or here on yahoogroups. We also will not touch a node that has EchoIRLP installed on it, regardless of the problem. 3. problems @irlp.net was set up primarily to handle reflector access issues. The reflector owners and cops see e-mail sent to problems, and all automatic messages sent from a reflector that blocks your node are sent from problems @irlp.net. It is important to include problems @irlp.net when replying to a blocking message you may receive. Summarizing, node break-fix and IRLP software installation questions, i.e. true "service calls" go to installs @irlp.net. Reflector access (blocks, etc) go to problems @irlp.net. Nearly everything else (how do I hook up a dimflozzet to my IRLP node?; operating questions; etc.) goes to irlp @yahoogroups.com. There is also the questions @irlp.net list, but this is used primarily to field general questions from folks outside the network looking for information about IRLP. -Dave K9DC
